Water: More precious than Gold
|
|
Water is more precious than Gold. This was what the protesters cried when they were savagely beaten by the authorities and hired security personnel … People who appeared to be working to support rights of a private company, Ross Mining. "Water is more precious than Gold!" … It is a cry that has echoed around the world. Tens of thousands in Israel have stopped to listen as Rusty Harris, ambassador for Timbarras, spoke his message to them. Newspapers the world have taken note of the sacrifice of the protesters at Timbarra Mountain, especially the fact that a private company, Ross Mining, had been reported as seeking to bring in mercenaries to quell the protest. Legal cases, argument and volatility remain… The sacrifice of the protesters has not gone unnoticed. Water IS more precious than gold. You can’t drink Gold in a desert, and the pouring of tons of cyanide into the sacred waters of Timbarra Mountain is being increasingly seen as a violation of that which is most sacred. To the Aborigine Elders of the area, this desecration by Ross Mining is the same as someone spray painting their initials on the Mona Lisa, or burning down Notre Dame. Slowly the tables are turning. Slowly we are paying attention to the ancient wisdom… And yet we of the Western World are still to the ancient, indigenous cultures that OUR values are greater than theirs. What we are saying is that Gold is more valuable to us than the Sacred, and that polluting the creeks and rivers of this planet is fine, as long as it is profitable enough. Timbarra is one of the great Sacred Mountains of the world. It is being attacked by the mining of Gold. The care takers of this land, the Bundjalung people have stated that the actions of Ross Mining is sacrilege… But only a handful of protesters had the courage to stand up and defy the Authorities. This book is about one of those protesters, Rusty Harris, and about the events that led up to Timbarra. It carries with it a potent message, and it also carries with it a message from Golden Beings who visited Rusty, and gave him a mission… A message to give to the people of this world. It is not the intention of this book to say Mining is wrong, or to seek to defy the authorities, or to inflame public opinion against the mining industry. But it IS our intention to try and help the reader see beyond today, and to look at the effects of our actions tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that. It is the intention of this book to respectfully suggest that the ancient custodians of our lands have value, and must be listened to if our true worth as a nation is to be realised. The Aborigine in Australia, and other native tribes elsewhere, have held the threads of civilisations together far longer than we in the Western World. Perhaps a little respect and a few moments to listen to what we might be offered would not go astray? Maybe they know something we don’t? … Or at least, something we may have forgotten. One of these "things" is the simple truth that Water is more precious than Gold. To say this is to fly in the face of convention, but the man who says this, and who will keep saying this, is Rusty Harris of Wadesville, New South Wales, Australia. Rusty has flown in the face of convention his entire life. Come and Look at some of the OTHER warriors who stood the good fight on Timbarra Mountain: |
